In 1911, the Covington Industrial Club was established by 100 business leaders, with each paying annual dues of $25. This iconic building became the home of the Covington Industrial Club, where local business leaders came together to drive economic growth and community pride.

120 years later, a new generation of business leaders will once again call this corner home.
For generations, the Spirit of Progress statue atop the original Montgomery Ward & Co. on Michigan Boulevard in Chicago symbolized leadership and inspiration. When Montgomery Ward & Co. opened their department store on August 17, 1929, at the corner of Madison Avenue and Eighth Street, on the original location of the Covington Industrial Club, the facade of the new building included a tile mosaic featuring the “Spirit of Progress.” Nearly a century later, what was then described as “a fine modern building” in the “heart of [a] thriving community” has been reinvented as SparkHaus, the engine of entrepreneurship for Northern Kentucky.
